The Shins - Simple Song

The song reminds me of Elton John's Your Song; however, don't let the title fool you. The lyrics are anything but simple when considering all of the imagery in this song.

I especially love the last verse.  The fumbling attempts that we make at the start of a relationship are the things that endear us to the other person and become the shared memories most often replayed later (or that's what it seems like to me).  And "love's such a delicate thing that we do with nothing to prove" shows the ephemeral quality of love.  It is built on the every day acts of kindness and consideration rather than just eloquent words and grand gifts.  When singing about the charm he gave, it's not the gift itself that is special but the act of wearing it that is most important.

Please listen to the song and tell me if you agree.  The music and lyrics can be found in the video below.
