St. Vincent - Cruel

St. Vincent is the stage name for Annie Erin Clark, an artist located in New York.  She's had three studio albums as a soloist.  Her third album Strange Mercy (2011) contains the song, Cruel (my personal favorite).

She recently collaborated with David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame) on an album titled Love This Giant (2012).  I haven't heard the album yet but cannot wait to experience the unlikely combination.

The video below contains music and lyrics.

Lisa Hannigan - Passenger

Irish singer Lisa Hannigan has had two studio albums, both of which are excellent. I like Passenger best. It's a little sad as is anything dealing with distance and relationships.

I was a little confused by the line "I have you chewed on like biro." I thought it must be a new type of food that I haven't had. Apparently, biro refers to a type of ballpoint pen named after Laszlo Bíró, a Hungarian inventor. Who knew? I thought she was mispronouncing gyro...

Big Boi - She Hates Me (Feat. Kid Cudi)

Where has Big Boi been?  The duo, OutKast, hasn't had any recent albums and I'm not sure there has been anything from them really memorable from Big Boi or Andre 3000 since Ms. Jackson or Hey Ya!  Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (2012) was a pleasant surprise.  Big Boi delivered a good album with quite a few memorable songs, one of which is She Hates Me which features Kid Cudi.  Good song but it offers no solutions for getting your significant other to like you again.  But it does make a case for not doing drugs since it makes your breath stink.

Calvin Harris - Thinking About You (Feat. Ayah Marar)

I like this song.  As always, Calvin Harris never disappoints with his collaborations.  18 Months (2012) is filled with famous names and some who are not quite well-known yet (at least to me).  Ayah Marar is one of those lesser known artists with a strong voice that's keeps up with the music.  I would recommend the album since almost every song should be a single on the radio and there are very few I'd skip over.  In any case, Thinking About You is my favorite, though Ne-Yo and Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine) have great songs on the album as well.

Please see the video below for music and lyrics.
